Sharing Goddess Videos...MUSIC AND LYRICS

There are a number of Goddess videos that I sing and chat to and others I go up to our meditating sanctuary and drum with. The firs one is called Wiccan Mysteries and I like the chanting. It is peaceful and I like listening to it because it gentles my spirit when I do. The images on a number of these videos are also inspiring to me. Feel free to add any of your own. If you have a series I would suggest starting a new discussion with the artists name in the title. I thought we could also add teaching videos to keep things separate and less confusing.

Lisa Thiel is among my favorite female performers. The first time I heard here was in the 80's when I purchased her Songs of the Spirit cassette tape and workshop.

The Legend of The Drum

An Abenaki Legend

It is said that when Creator was giving a place for all the spirits to dwell who would be taking part in the inhabitance of Mother Earth, there came a sound, a loud BOOM, from off in the distance.

As Creator listened, the sound kept coming closer and closer until it finally it was right in front of Creator. "Who are you?" asked Creator. "I am the spirit of the drum" was the reply. I have come here to ask you to allow me to take part in this wonderful thing." "How will you take part?" Creator questioned." I would like to accompany the singing of the people. When they sing from their hearts, I will to sing as though I was the heartbeat of Mother Earth. In that way, all creation will sing in harmony. "Creator granted the request, and from then on, the drum accompanied the people's voices.

Throughout all of the indigenous peoples of the world, the drum is the center of all songs. It is the catalyst for the spirit of the songs to rise up to the Creator so that the prayers in those songs reach where they were meant to go. At all times, the sound of the drum brings completeness, awe, excitement, solemnity, strength, courage, and the fulfillment to the songs. It is Mother's heartbeat giving her approval to those living upon her. It draws the eagle to it, who carries the message to Creator.

It changes people's lives!

Since the drum is often the only instrument used in our sacred rites, you should be informed why it is especially sacred and important to us. It is because the round form of the drum represents the whole universe, and its' steady strong beat is the pulse, the heart, throbbing at the center of the universe.

It is as the voice of WAKAN-TANKA, the Great Spirit and this sound stirs us and helps us to understand the mystery and power of all things. We should, also, understand that all things are works of the Great Spirit. We should know that he is within all four legged animals, the two legged and the winged peoples; and even more important, we should understand that He is above all these things.

When we do understand all this in our hearts, then we will love and know the Great Spirit and we will act and live as the Great Spirit intends.

There are other things also, that we the Siouan dialect speaking people hold sacred, the pipe given to us by White
Buffalo Cow Woman and the great buffalo. The buffalo gives up its' life so that we can have food from the meat, clothing and shelter from the tanned hides, tools made from the bones and cooking utensils and waterproof packaging for preserved foods.

The pipe, which carries all our cries and prayers to Wakan-Tanka who watches over us all. Behold the pipe, always remember how sacred it is, and treat it as such for it will take you to the end. For as long as the pipe is used, the people will live; but as soon as the pipe is forgotten, the people will be without a center and they will perish.

Thank you for sharing the link to your Goddess blog. It is an amazing amount of richly Divine information. I look forward to reading more of it and growing as a Goddess. Very interesting that you have that image on your youtube account but I guess that it shouldn't surprise me at this point. :)) The parallels that we share get more and more interesting. You continue to richly bless my life. We must have been deeply connected in other lifetimes because as we continue to chat and share there is such a sense of substance within our exchanges that brings an inner smile each time we discover the similarity within our wave-lengths and bonding and I am very grateful to be enjoying our soul sister kinship.

I added it to my favorites and really enjoyed it. I have all of Loreena McKinnit's CD's and David made an MP3 of it so I often have here music in the background when I am working and writing.

Her work is beautiful. How lovely to have her music playing in the background while you work. I listen to Native American music while I am traveling... I spend a lot of time traveling to people's homes with my work.

This video is truly mesmerizing. I especially resonate with the dancing as it is one of the ways to help us ground ourselves and open the Root Chakra. Through dance we connect with Earth Mother and celebrate the Divine Feminine. I have added a vid by Jacqui Lalilta dancing an invocation to the Goddess and celebrating the Divine femininity and sensuality.
