It is almost Spring and we are all looking forward to the bursts of colors that will soon be painting our landscapes as the trees leaf out, the grass greens up and the flowers blossom! Our thoughts are turning to getting our hands in the dirt, working it and planting seeds!
As we all know, our food sources are becoming more and more depleted nutritionally and the costs are rising rapidly. I for one have decided to plant my first garden this year which has led me to start this group. I am depending on OV members with the expertise and experience of gardening to help those of us who are willing to learn. If there is someone who would like to get us started, please step up!
For those that have questions, please start posting them. Let's join together and have our own OV Community Garden!
I can hardly wait to bite into that ear of corn! MMMMMMMM (smile)

I grow an organic garden every spring & I am looking forward to this coming spring again. I was unable to harvest all my carrots last fall & just wondering if they will start growing in the spring! Or were they all winter killed as I am located in Northern Canada!

Good idea Vlada but don't they go all soggy when you water them? I'm referring to before they go in the ground.

Vlada so you're planting them in old news LOL Hope it was good news. It is a great idea!! I will try it next time.

I don't know what your water facilities are but I plant my seedlings where the geysers overflow valve leaks and I let my bath water irrigate my garden.

At one point I was afraid there could be too much soap in the water but over time I realized and I was convinced by others that it is better than no water at all and another thing to consider is this:

Water is supposed to seep into the ground and fill the water tables. When you let it run down the drain system they collect it, clean it, flouridate it and SELL it back to you. So rather give it back to nature as much as you can and let her filter it properly. It is illegal to do that in our country but not enforcable so we do it as much as we can.

Greenhouses are a  good investment anytime, Dave!  You can add fans and heaters etc, of course they can be pricey, but even good ole 8 ml greenhouse poly will work if one is handy.. I'm not lol  :)

Chem trails everywhere. Disrupting everything.  Our anti- fluoride  group is also asking into chemtrails and run into brick walls.  There is more than one way to get around this crap, we just get creative and stubborn.

lol!

Could our lack of success have anything to do with chemtrails?  Just saying....  I guess a greenhouse is the best way to go.

Roze, how awful! I know last year all over the world, there have been weather disasters affecting our gardens. I am so sorry to hear of the tornado you had to experience!
John, I think you are right, about this being a gardening support group! You had extreme heat, we had nothing but rain and cold... Wow
Yet we don't give up! I am planting more than I need this year, maybe I will borrow some garden space too! More 'eggs in the basket' so to speak!

We had trouble too.  We planted eggplant seedling and then the dog chewed up what didn't dry up from the extreme heat! ....Maybe this discussion is turning into a gardening support group! John

Dave, lol, my carrots grew from June till october, the biggest was 2 inches haha, but they were still tasty!  They got washed out by our rain gutter overflowing many times but still hung on, poor things :)  No oxygen~ not enough sun...

Sarah, me too!  I like to meditate and communicate with the energies of the plants.  I hope to have a better potted garden this year!

Have a look at Moon Cycle Gardening, posted above, the video is from the Old Farmer's Almanac, short but to the point, there is a website on the discussion too.

Namaste!
