Herbal Tip - April 30, 2010

Tamarind trees grow in the Caribbean, India, Asia, and China and has long pod with many seeds and a great sticky and chewy fruit around the seeds, and the fruit has a sweet/sour flavor that is great for sauces. As an herb tamarind has wonderful medicinal qualities such as improving digestion, relieving gas, soothing sore throats, and tamarind is a mild laxative. And in India tamarind is mixed with cumin and sugar for dysentery, and in China tamarind is thought to be a…

"The Relaxed Soul Finds Time to Fall in Love"

Once I meet a woman who was always doing nice things for other people. She was so busy that she never had time to go to the doctor or pay her bills.

One day it came to her that she was distracting herself from the reality of her own life, that she was not happy with her job, her husband, and the way she looked --- anything! But that was not the real challenge, the real challenge was that she was not happy with who…

Herbal Tip - April 29, 2010

Sweet Woodruff is a plant that grows in shady areas of Asia and Northern Africa. The leaves and stems are used to make a tea which is great for inflammation and diuretic qualities. Very useful for varicose veins and phlebitis, and it works well as an antispasmodic. It contains Coumarins which is a blood thinner which can cause internal bleeding in large doses --- do not take in combination with other medications.

"The Relaxed Soul Ends Addiction"

We can be addicted to drugs, people, work, friends, and just about anything you can think of. I have found that addiction stems from not feeling loved, we need something to fill the void, something we think is going to make us feel better --- and it does for a short time.

Later we feel terrible and the cycle continues until we understand what we really need deep down inside --- SELF LOVE.

Understanding "THE SELF" is…

Warts

If you have warts you probably have a lot of toxins in your body lowering your immune system and need to detox with a tea of Milk Thistle and Dandelion Root. It's also important to stimulate your immune system with Garlic, Echinacea, Lapacho and other herbs that help your immune system fight off viruses. And you can also apply a tincture of arbor vitae or the sap from poinsettia plant to make the warts disappear.

"The Relaxed Soul Stops"

I worked with a man last week who had a heart attack, teaching him mindfulness. He told me he was always doing something, either reading, writing, running here and there. Even while getting therapy for his heart he was writing a proposal.

I asked him a simple question, "Are you a human being or a human doing?" He had a huge smile on his face and said, "A human doing."

Now he's meditating 20 to 30 minutes in the morning and…

"The Relaxed Soul Heals His Marriage"

You may quarrel with loved ones and want them to change, but it may not be them that needs to change, it may be YOU. You may have a huge hole in our chest because of the wounds you incurred as a child from Mom and Dad. You may feel unworthy and unloved by Mommy or Daddy because Mom or Dad walked away years ago, or quarreled all the time, or didn't talk to you or so many other things. So you keep trying to fill in the whole with love…

"The Relaxed Soul Loves Those Who Laugh"

Some will hear the words of truth and set out to change accordingly. Others will hear truth, and take in some of it and let the rest go---and there are those who will laugh at what they know is truth.

God (Truth) cannot exist without those who laugh, for that which is nothing and everything knows in a future life they will have an experience that will change everything and they too will come to know the TRUTH for we are…

Herbal Tip - April 23, 2010

If you have acid indigestion you might try a few herbs that can really help --- such as slippery elm powder, arrowroot, and Icelandic moss which all produce mucilaginous protection for the stomach. Meadow sweet can also help --- as will fennel and chamomile for GI problems, calming the stomach and also reducing acid. Try to stay away from tomatoes, oranges, meat, spinach, alcohol and tobacco.

"The Relaxed Soul Knows We Are All Warriors of Light"

Warriors of Light walk through the crowd with courage --- ignoring the heckles and wounds of Maya, even more determined to do their duty and walk with honor seeking the light, seeking truth, seeking to spread love, and happiness with every step.

It does not mean they do not feel pain, for pain is part of Maya, and pain is part of living.

So they march forth connected to that which is higher, basking…

Herbal Tip - April 22, 2010

To maintain vitality and get up and go I recommend Thyme, Withania, and Ginseng. I think Thyme is not used as much as it should be-it is very good for anti-aging and maintaining vitality. Withania also slows aging, helps with vigor, and helps people recovering from illness. Ginseng is great for long term stress, old age, and for convalescence. And if Ginseng is to strong for you or you have high blood pressure use Codonopsis which works the same way in a milder form.…

"The Relaxed Soul Breaks the Shell"

A new experience may bring with it the breaking of the shell the surrounds us. It's as though we've been shelter forever and now see with new eyes. Old books now read differently, and speakers once enjoyed no longer connect with us, as new ones take their place.

Our reality changes as we understand that there's more than what we can see, feel, or hear.

We transform to a new being hatched from the Universe -- a star…

Herbal Tip - April 21, 2010

If you have hemorrhoids it can be very painful and usually caused by straining to defecate. One way to help hemorrhoids is to soften the stools with slippery elm and add bulk and moisture to the diet with Psyllium and also Guar Gum. Externally using common oak bark powder with calendula in an ointment twice a day works great, as does applying witch hazel ointment twice a day.

"The Relaxed Soul Lives Simply"

Tomorrow is Earth Day and we are the stewards of the Earth. In the Tao Te Ching written many thousands of years ago it talks about, "These things from ancient times arise from ONE (God): The sky is whole and clear, the earth is whole and firm, the spirit is whole and full, the 10,000 things (the Universe) is whole."

We are ONE WITH EVERYTHING thus we're to treat the world as we would our children.

As I have said before…

Herbal Tip - April 20, 2010

Guar Gum (Cyanopsis tetragonoloba) is a shrub with purple flowers that grows in the Far East. The pods are used to make a gum that is a good bulk laxative. It also helps slow down the emptying of the stomach so you feel full longer, and also slows down the absorption of carbohydrates. It seems to stabilize blood sugar levels and lowers cholesterol too. In India guar seed is a laxative and a digestive aid.

"The Relaxed Soul Steps Up"

Moses was asked by God to step out of his comfort zone and lead the children of Israel out of Egypt. Noah was asked to step out of his comfort zone and build the ark. King Solomon was asked to step up and out of his comfort zone many times.

So it is that we too are suppose to step out of our comfort zone and do the incredible ---- all we have to do is listen to the still small voice deep down inside during meditation.

For…

Herbal Tip - April 19, 2010

Jasmine (Jasminum garndiflorum) is a flowering shrub that grows in India and other Far East Countries. The flowers makes a great tea that works well for soothing jangled nerves, helping sedate the over active mind, and relieving tension. Also the oil is very good for dry sensitive skin. Unfortunately the flowers are very expensive and hard to find, and most of the oils you buy in the stores are not real Jasmine oil, so be aware of what you are buying.

"The Relaxed Soul Finds the Path of Effort"

If you practice meditation looking at the clock adding up the minutes soon you are caught in how long --- instead of how deep. For no matter what you do --- it does not matter how long you do it, it's the quality of your effort that count.

For instance sweeping the floor, if you sweep missing most of the dirt, what does it matter? Or if you're talking with the neighbor and start yelling at him, what does it…
