Free Will, Karma & Progress Upon Our Mother Earth

Someone asked the following questions about reincarnation, karma, and free-will.

"...are we doomed to repeat our mistakes each lifetime, or do we again have free will and choice?....i wonder what happens if old antagonists meet? is there a karma?...i think people are creatures of habit, and usually aren’t extremely good or extremely evil in their mortal existences...(edited for spelling)"

I present the following possible answers to the above questions from what life has taught me. These ideas are offered for your consideration.

We are all learning through our experiences in life, by our choices and the consequences they return to us in this and subsequent lifetimes. Karma, meaning "action," puts us in the shoes of those we have treated or mistreated, returning everything to us in a like form-- "as we sow, we reap," "as we mete it to others, so it is meted to us," not as a punishment, but an opportunity to learn to be more loving and unselfish through our own free will.

Thus, we have the opportunity to recognize our connectedness, and how compassion, love and kindness-- giving of ourselves to our world, rather than taking-- is the best course. This is a process of purification of mind: as we set higher and higher ideals, our thoughts and feelings are raised, becoming purer and purer. Finally we at-one, the purified mind allowing the higher spark within to shine through us-- thy ("higher") Will, not my "lower" nature be done through me. Then, we act in loving and unselfish ways spontaneously, without thought, according to the highest in us.

Being a "creature of habit," then, is a product of our earlier unpurified, "lower" minds/feelings, where we are bound more by the stimulus and response known to behavioral psychology.

When we meet old adversaries we have the opportunity to either heal our differences through forgiveness and greater understanding, OR, react according to our lower natures again, perpetuating the karma, returning the same conditions to us in the future-- a new opportunity to stand in our brothers and sisters shoes, and learn the lessons of our loving connectedness.

Accordingly, we are not doomed to repeat the same mistakes, but can learn and grow in love. We can also become bitter, resentful, selfish, and hateful from our experiences, leading us down a dark road that requires more difficult and painful experiences to help "break through" the negative mental-emotional patterns we have formed. This suffering then becomes our hope of redemption, the method by which we are given the opportunity to change by our own free will. Seen in this light, suffering is not something unfathomable and terrible, but a merciful way for us to freely change our direction.

All of this internal progress, according to the knowledge of my people, occurs within natures own design for life, where our Earth Mother carries us up an evolutionary ladder, bringing us newer and more refined bodies to use from age-to-age and world-to-world within our sun system. At purification times we have the opportunity to progress or opt out of the Great Spirit's design for life upon our mother worlds. This opting out of our covenants occurs when we are lured by the promise of extraordinary longevity and advanced technology to desert our Earth Mothers. Our knowledge holds that this choice will soon come to us again.

I ask you: Who will listen to their hearts, to their higher wisdom when the choice to remain upon or leave our Earth Mother comes to us? Who will rise above their lower impulses, heeding their Mother's call to hold fast to Her? Who will walk the road home to the Morning Star? It is my wish and prayer that it will be each of you.
