Elecampane (Inula Helenium) is a tall growing flower from which the roots are used as a warming tonic. It can be made into a tea and is especially useful for soothing the bronchial linings. It is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial and has been shown in German research to be helpful with tuberculosis. Elecampane is a great expectorant and encourages coughing and the expulsion of mucus, and also helpful for asthma and bronchitis.
